Episode two. Your menu: categories, dishes, choices, and tax. Start in Categories, under Menu and Costing. Group dishes the way your menu reads: coffee and tea, starters, main courses, desserts. Each category carries a tax group, here VATable, standard fifteen percent. Drag the handle to change the order. Menu and stock lists everything: menu items, recipe ingredients, and supplies. Tap Menu items to see only the dishes, with their unit cost and selling price. Click Add menu item. A menu item is a dish or drink customers can order. Give it a name and a unique code. Octopus Salad, code MENU-OCTOPUS. Choose its category, Starters, and a selling price of 450 rupees. Open Menu settings. Under Kitchen and bar, Send orders to picks the station. Leave it clear to follow the category, or tick one, like Kitchen Cold. Service and availability sets when it's served: morning, lunch, terrace, or dinner. Sold out stops it being ordered on the POS. Tick its allergens. This salad contains molluscs. Order choices are the questions a waiter asks. Click Add choice, and call it Dressing. Mark it Required, and add the options, with any extra price. Lime vinaigrette is included. Garlic butter adds 25 rupees. Click Add menu item, and the dish is on the menu. Kitchen Routing and Printers, under Settings and System, links categories to the four stations: Kitchen Warm, Kitchen Cold, Bar Alcoholic, and Bar Non-Alcoholic. Four categories still need a station. Bar and Cocktails is one of them. Edit Bar Alcoholic, add Bar and Cocktails under Category routing, and save. Finally, tax. Tax groups holds three: VATable standard at fifteen percent, the default for new products, plus zero-rated and exempt, both at zero. Zero-rated and exempt both charge no VAT, but they're reported differently, so choose the right group. In the store settings, Tax-inclusive pricing is on. Your menu prices already include VAT. Next: bookings, reservations and events.
