Codeblix FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Straight answers on MRA e-invoicing compliance, POS hardware, pricing, credit notes, offline mode and data security — everything Mauritius businesses ask before going live with Codeblix EBS.

1. What is MRA e-invoicing?

MRA e-invoicing (the Electronic Billing System, or EBS) is a Mauritius Revenue Authority mandate requiring every VAT-registered business to issue invoices through MRA-certified software. Each invoice is assigned an Invoice Reference Number (IRN), a QR code, and a cryptographic hash that chains it to the previous invoice so records cannot be silently altered.

For the full end-to-end workflow — counters, hash chaining, QR codes and transmission — see our MRA e-invoicing guide. It walks through each step your software (and your staff) must perform to stay compliant.

2. Is Codeblix MRA-approved?

Yes. Codeblix Ltd is registered with the MRA as EBS Solution Provider SN 95 (BRN C24214425) and was officially listed in the June 2026 provider directory after a successful live demonstration covering invoice generation, fiscalisation, hash-chain verification and transaction reporting.

You can verify us alongside the other certified providers on the official EBS providers list, and read the full company background on our about page.

3. Can I use it offline?

Yes. Codeblix has an offline mode that lets you keep issuing invoices when your internet drops or the MRA service is temporarily unavailable. Each invoice is stored locally with a valid invoice counter and previous-note hash, then automatically transmits to MRA and receives its IRN and QR code the moment connectivity returns.

This matters most at the retail counter — see how it fits into a downtime-proof checkout in our POS module.

4. How much does it cost?

Plans start at MUR 2,500 per month for the Starter plan with a one-time setup fee, and there are no per-transaction fees no matter how many invoices you issue. Yearly plans save around 10%, and every account starts with a free 14-day trial — no credit card needed.

For the Pro and Business tiers that add payroll and inventory, see the full breakdown on the pricing section of the homepage. If you have a custom volume requirement, use our contact page for a tailored quote.

5. Does it work with my receipt printer?

Yes. Codeblix prints to any standard ESC/POS thermal receipt printer (Epson, Star, Bixolon and similar) as well as A4 inkjet and laser printers. The MRA QR code and IRN print directly on the receipt so each fiscalised sale is fully compliant at the counter.

Our POS module is built specifically for retail counters, restaurants and pharmacies, with hardware profiles that auto-configure common Mauritian printer models out of the box.

6. Can my accountant access it?

Yes. You can invite your accountant or bookkeeper with controlled read/write access at no extra cost. They can review invoices, run VAT returns, generate sales reports and issue credit notes without seeing payroll or banking details — permissions are granular per user.

This pairs naturally with our accounting module and CRM, so your whole finance team works from one source of truth instead of juggling spreadsheets across tools.

7. Does it support multi-currency?

Yes. You can invoice in USD, EUR, GBP, MUR and other major currencies, while VAT and totals are automatically converted to MUR for MRA submission as the EBS specification requires. Exchange rates are configurable per invoice or pulled from a daily rate.

Product pricing and stock in the inventory module can also be held in any currency, and multi-currency is included on every plan — not gated to a higher tier.

8. What about credit notes?

Credit notes (and debit notes) are fully supported as MRA document types in their own right. Each gets its own invoice counter, QR code and IRN, and correctly references the original invoice so the audit chain stays intact for MRA verification.

Combined with staff adjustments in our payroll module, refunds and reversals remain fully auditable and hash-chain compliant across the whole business.

9. How long does setup take?

Most Mauritius SMEs are live within one business day. We import your customers, items and opening balances from QuickBooks, Sage, Xero or Excel, run MRA test transactions to confirm fiscalisation, and train your staff on invoicing and reporting.

For the detailed pre-go-live checklist — BRN/TAN validation, counter seeding and test invoice submission — follow our MRA e-invoicing guide.

10. Is my data safe?

Yes. Codeblix uses 256-bit encryption in transit and at rest, daily encrypted backups, and is fully compliant with the Mauritius Data Protection Act 2017. The hash chain on every invoice makes records tamper-evident and auditable — if anyone tries to alter a historic invoice, the chain breaks visibly.

You can read our full privacy commitments on the data protection page, and reach our team directly via the contact page for any data-handling or hosting question.
