Episode seven. The bill, payments, and shifts. Every cashier starts with Open shift. Count the cash in your drawer, and enter the total. Here, five thousand rupees. You can also count it note by note, with Count by denomination. Tap Start shift. The shift opens, and its live X-Report starts from the opening cash. On the floor, T7 has been served. Open the table, and its check opens with every dish. When the guests ask, tap Request Bill. No receipt printer is connected in this demo, so the screen says so. The table now shows Bill requested. Its check offers Split Bill, and Take Payment, with the total due. The printed bill is clearly marked: pre-payment bill, not a receipt. Splitting? Split Bill offers three ways. Assign items puts each dish on a chosen bill. Auto-distribute deals the dishes out in turn. By amount divides the total, equally or by hand. Each bill is then paid on its own, and the table stays open until the final bill is paid. Back on the floor, tap Take Payment. Pick the method on the left: cash, or manual card. Add tip records a tip for the waiter. Ten percent adds one hundred and five rupees. Type the cash given. Two thousand rupees, and the change due is eight hundred and forty-five. Paying two ways? Enter five hundred in cash. The rest remains on the table, so tap Add payment. The MIPS card terminal is not connected yet, so card payments are recorded as Manual Card. Enter the card's last four digits as the reference, then tap Complete sale. Sale complete. View or print the receipt, and the table is free again. The X-Report shows the shift so far: sales, tax, discounts, refunds, each payment method, and the expected cash. At the end, tap Close shift, and count the drawer. Five thousand four hundred and fifty, against five thousand five hundred expected. The variance is fifty short, so choose a reason, like Miscount, and close the shift. The Z-Report freezes the totals, with the counted cash and the variance. Print it for the safe. Next: hardware, terminals, and printing.
