Free GTIN validation utility

GS1 barcode generator with the ownership boundary visible

Enter a GTIN body or a complete GTIN. The tool checks the arithmetic, completes a missing final digit and renders a local planning preview. It does not create a GS1 Company Prefix or legitimate product identity.

GTIN check digit

The preview stays in your browser. GTIN-8, GTIN-12 and GTIN-13 use an EAN/UPC representation; GTIN-14 uses an ITF-14 planning preview. Allocation, ownership and production verification remain with GS1 and your label process.

Number control

A correct check digit is not an allocated identifier

The calculation can catch a mistyped final digit and complete a body with the appropriate target length. It cannot establish who owns the prefix, what trade item the number identifies or whether reuse is permitted.

  • Seven body digits complete a GTIN-8.
  • Eleven, twelve or thirteen body digits complete longer GTIN forms.
  • Complete values are rejected when the final digit does not match.
Production boundary

Test the real print, substrate and scanner

The browser preview gives a readable planning representation of the validated digits. Symbol choice, dimensions, quiet zones, colour, print gain, placement and verification remain production responsibilities governed by the current GS1 specifications.

  • Confirm allocation with the relevant GS1 organisation.
  • Do not crop or stretch the production artwork.
  • Verify labels from the actual printer and packaging line.

Continue from calculation to workflow

Use the result as an input to planning—not as a standalone system decision.
